“Pro or Anti?” A Fresh Perspective On Aging

I just turned fifty-five.

And lately, I’ve noticed a persistent theme that’s followed me for as long as I can remember. At every turn—on billboards, in commercials, on shelves at the store—the message has been the same: Reverse the aging process.

Creams.
Potions.
Supplements.
Nutrition plans.
Workout routines.

The undercurrent is always clear: age less, look younger, fight time.

It’s a lot to digest. It’s a lot to resist.

But lately, I’ve been asking myself a simple question:
Why?
Why should we be trying to reverse a completely natural process? Why is aging something to fight?

Let’s look at the language. The term “anti-aging” is everywhere. But think about that for a moment.
Anti.
Against. Suppress. Prevent.
The word itself carries a charge of resistance, and negativity—an undertone that says, “This is bad.”

So by that definition, aging is bad?

What if we flipped the script?

What if, instead of being anti-aging… we were pro-aging?

Pro: for, in favor of, supportive of.

What if we were pro-growth, pro-wisdom, pro-evolution? What if we saw the lines on our faces as a map of where we’ve been, not flaws to be erased?

What if instead of resisting the years, we embraced them?
What if we nourished ourselves because we love our bodies, not because we’re trying to rewind them?
What if we exercised not to fit back into our 30-year-old jeans, but to keep feeling strong, vital, and alive?

We have an opportunity—every day, every year—to evolve.
To deepen our understanding of ourselves.
To choose joy over judgment.
To celebrate progress over perfection.

Aging isn't a curse. It’s a privilege.
And if we’re lucky, we get to keep doing it.

So here I am, fifty-five, and choosing to be pro.

Pro-evolution.
Pro-self-love.
Pro-this-beautiful-stage-of-life.

How about you?
